October 2010

In September's honor, I thought I'd talk about songs that all have "September" in them!

Songs

Counting Crows – "August and Everything After"

So this whole album is about September because it's about August and everything after it. (See album title.) And that's not the only good thing about it. It has the song "Mr. Jones" on it, which is possibly the greatest song ever written by anyone, anywhere, of all time. Mr. Adam Duritz of Counting Crows, I bow to you, sir. Every time I hear this song, I break my guitar because it makes me realize that I'm pretending to be a singer/songwriter. If I write a song that is 1% as good as this song, I'd die happy. This album also has "Anna Begins" which is actually way better than "Mr. Jones" now that I think about it.

Guns N' Roses – "November Rain"

Okay, so this song isn't about September. It was crazy of me to think I could come up with a bunch of September songs. So this one is about the month of November. I can't remember the first time I heard this song. But it's not my fault because I banged my head pretty hard on a baseball bat right after and totally lost time. It's such a great song!! Gives me a memory headache every time I hear it.

Counting Crows – "A Long December"

This song reminds me of a recurring dream I have. I'm in Burly's van (Burly is my guitarist), driving on a highway in outer space, and there's this cute puppy next to me. The puppy sits up and says, "You're going the wrong way." And because I'm really good at 3-point turns, I make one, and head back to Earth. And of course it's New Year's Eve, so I'm with April. And just before I wake up, the dog says, "Hold on to these moments as they pass," just like in the song "A Long December!"
